Climate change is affecting us all and considering that 20% of electricity in our homes is used for lighting, things will need to change. The UK Government is aiming to ban incandescent bulbs by 2011, and it has been predicted that this phasing out will save more than 5 million tonnes in Co2 emissions each year. LEDs will therefore become the preferred choice. Why?
- Fluorescent light bulbs contain mercury which can contaminate the environment if not disposed of properly.
- LEDs are more efficient and don’t get hot.
- LEDs outperform the longest lasting fluorescent products by around 40,000 hours.
